Dear Loyal Readers,
I come to you all with great news. I am now the Intern Queen full-time! I finally got some funding from an entertainment company in Los Angeles and I’m running with my brand and concept at full speed. The new version of my site should be up and running in a few weeks, and the best part is that I will now be getting internships for students for free! That’s right–for free! I’m going to build my business, and you are all going to be here with me every step of the way. I’m going to leave out details of my negotiations, but I’ll eventually blog about my self-negotiation strategies and pointers.
Monday was my official first day at my new headquarters in Santa Monica, California. Overwhelming is not even the word to describe my first day. It’s such a crazy feeling to be on your own for the first time. For the past two years, I’ve answered to so many sets of rules and worked in an extremely intense environment. Monday, I had no rules. I had no one to do work for except myself. You would think I would be jumping up and down, but it was more of an “OMG–what do I do now?” feeling. It’s one thing to talk about being on your own and another really to be sitting in front of your new computer with your new business line and think, “Now what do I do?”
However, I’m ready to run this. I’m ready to build this company from the ground up. I’m starting my days with updating Excel charts on the number of visits to my website and my blog per day. I want to see that number have extreme daily increases. I want to watch that number like a hawk. I want to schedule my days so that I’m always concentrated on something and hitting all areas of my company.
I’m in the process of setting up my work space (today I plugged in my headset). This is a strange week to start a job since Friday is the Fourth of July, but there’s no stopping me now.
Here’s to Intern Queen Inc.!
All the best,
Lauren Berger

I’m about to make the jump myself. Moving from PA to CA to follow my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. *Gulp* Soon I’ll have my ‘working for myself’ days. Too bad I won’t be paying myself any $$. Goodluck to you, and everyone else who takes that first leap! Hold onto your safety belts ladies, we are in for the ride of our lives!

Hi Queen,
just wanted to wish you the best and say congratulations on getting started. I have always wanted to start my own business but not there yet. Good luck.
